Salomon outpath Pro GTX Having read as many reviews as possible I was excited to get these on my feet. Comfortable, Waterproof and Light ? Just what I wanted for long distance trekking. I expected that they would be a good snug fit, yes they were, so far so good. but as soon as I started to walk in them the lower end of the 'stiffener' that supports the lacing/zip dug straight into the top of my toes, on both feet. After a closer investigation it was obvious that this was an issue that couldn't be adjusted by bending or softening the appropriate area, it seems to be some form of 'stiff plastic' and far from being 'flexible' the end digs in like a knife. So for me unusable. The other think that I noticed immediately was that the protective gaiter is made from a stretch material which is very porous. So the impression that I got of a waterproof boot (gore-tex outer) is nonsense. The 'shoe'part of this 'boot' may well be waterproof but if the top half is a stretch mesh.... your feet won't stay dry for long. What a disappointment. What a shame, I really wanted these to be good. I'll stick with my heavier but trusty leather Danners.
