Product details

The Montane Featherlite Down Jacket is exactly what it says on the tin. 405g of compressible warmth and comfort. The Featherlite is also versatile with a micro baffle system that enables it to be worn as a mid layer for miserable conditions or top layer for cool evenings and warmer, sunny days. The micro baffle system work wonders for preventing migration which in term eliminates cold spots and creates an even layer of warm and light insulation.

Montane have given the Featherlite Jacket 750+ fill power down for the insulation along with an ultra-light Pertex Quantum Outer that's windproof, down proof and water resistant. The Featherlite is ideal for winter pursuits on and off the mountain.

750 Fill Power Down
750 Fill Power Down is high quality down which offers lightweight warmth and low pack size. High quality down gives lower weight but higher heat retention than lower fill power down.
Adjustable Hood
Garments with an Adjustable Hood feature draw cords with toggles or other adjustment mechanisms, to change the size and shape of the hood to better fit the head of the wearer. Such hoods usually adjust independently around the head, and around the face, for a snug fit and optimum weather protection.
Lightweight
Lightweight products feature lightweight materials and constructions to reduce the user’s load and aid mobility. Lightweight clothing products are thin and provide very little or no cushioning and insulation. They are best used for high-intensity or warm-weather pursuits, or employed as part of a layering system.
Stitched-Through construction
Stitched-Through Construction: down garments and equipment constructed using a stitch through construction which helps keep down in place and reduce clumping. This construction is used mostly on mid to low weight down items.
Pertex
Pertex develop new, lighter, stronger and more technical fabrics for brands to use on their outdoor clothing and equipment. Pertex is used on items which range as far as down sleeping bags to lightweight waterproofs. Pertex have a range of fabrics which each has it's own area of expertise.
Pertex Quantum
Pertex Quantum technology is the lightest of the Pertex fabrics and it shows the best strength to weight ratio. Pertex Quantum is down proof and withstands the abuse of hardcore use.
DWR
DWR. Durable Water Repellent, is a coating added to fabrics to help add to their water repellency and shed water and snow more effectively.
Packs Small
This garment Packs down Small and comes with it's own stuff sack so it packs small to take up less room in your pack and can be easily accessed in case of a downpour.
Reflective Detail
Features reflective detailing in the form of trim, logos or toggles, to enhance the nighttime safety of the wearer. A valuable feature on running and cycle jackets in particular.
YKK Zips
YKK Zips are used for their robustness and exceptional quality. YKK uses locking teeth to create a barrier between you and the elements.
HyperDRY
HyperDRY is a down treatment that coats the feathers at amicroscopic level, providing high performance water resistance that doesn’t compromise the fill or texture in damp or wet conditions. Allied Feather & Down first created the HyperDRY mark in 2011.
Bluesign Approved
Bluesign is a standard for environmental health and safety in the manufacturing and treatment of textiles in the clothing industry. Bluesign independent auditing examines the entire manufacturing processes from raw materials and water / energy usage water to air emissions.
RDS
The Responsible Down Standard (RDS) is a certification to ensure that birds used in the sourcing of feather down are treated ethically. All RDS Down is independently certified by Control Union and must meet exacting standards and criteria in the sourcing of the down. All RDS certified down is fully traceable and that down comes from birds that are not subjected any unnecessary harm or to live plucking and force-feeding.

Early days as i have only had this jacket for a short while, but early impressions are very good. The jacket is toasty warm and has a nice snug fit, but is not too bulky or restrictive in any way. It appears to be very well made and the adjustable hood is first class. It also packs down into a very small stuff sack so is ideal for backpacking.I have various bits of Montane kit and this is another quality addition.

One of the best lightweight down jackets in its price range, warmer and better quality than the similar Rab Microlight jacket. Quality product as usual from Montane.

I bought this looking for a replacement to my well worn Mountain Hardware Nitrous Down jacket. The Nitrous is no longer available and the like-for-like replacement is considerably more expensive than this Montain (£250 v £130) It also has had mixed reviews as it is a true minimalist jacket with some people suggesting it is now too fragile and not warm enough. In saying that, I love my MH Nitrous but its own minimalist nature is now showing as the hem is completely worn through by the draw-cord and the zip is starting to give. This Montain is not directly comparable. It is still a micro-down jacket, but is not as minimalist as the MH. It feels like it is made of tougher stuff and is more substantial, both in lining, features and, of course, weight. The MH is 800 fill down and very light. This Montain is 750 fill down and noticeably heavier and thicker. I haven't yet packed it down to compare pack sizes. However, I expect the Montain to be (slightly) heavier and bulkier but more hardwaring and warmer. The Montain is stylish. It doesn't sit quite as well on me as the ME nitrous, but it may still need to be broken in. It has a more substantial hood for proper climbing and is more fully featured. Size wise, the small is a perfect fit (5'9 and slim). My wife thinks the MH looks better, but I'm not convinced. I like my purchase and I would recommend it. It is less ubiquitous then the Rab Alpine so it stands out a little and is almost identical in specs. It feels like you are wearing a proper jacket rather than a base-layer type jacket, like the MH, so I'll be keeping my MH to take with me for under a shell when going up a hill. Over-all, good purchase.

This product is excellent but the important bit is Webtogs service. There any many suppliers but Webtogs really stand out for the quality of their service from start to finish. A great supplier.
