Started in 1994, Icebreaker was the product of an encounter between 24-year-old New Zealander Jeremy Moon, and a sheep famer's underwear. Looking for a means to fund a trip to the USA to visit his American girlfriend, Moon was so impressed with the soft, lustrous warmth of Brian Brackenridge's prototype merino leggings in a world dominated by synthetic clothing, that he was inspired to create a business around merino wool garments. Re-mortgaging his house and taking out multiple loans to fund the project, Icebreaker was born.
Today, Icebreaker Merino clothing is the biggest and best- known name in merino wool outdoor wear, producing a full layering system of merino wool garments from base layers to jackets. This is entirely thanks to the fact that people love the way it feels. They also love the way it performs in action, with its unparalleled softness, excellent insulating properties and natural odour control - so efficient that Icebreaker garments have been worn continuously for periods of over 100 days. Icebreaker merino garments are also machine washable, highly durable and ecologically friendly. You can even trace the origin of your Icebreaker clothing wool yourself on the Icebreaker website - the definition of a traceable supply chain! Here at Webtogs we have a range of Icebreaker base layers, socks and much more.
