The Rab Downpour Packable Jacket is a versatile wardrobe essential ideal for everyday and outdoor lifestyle use. It boasts a Pertex Shield+ 2.5 layer fabric construction with Dry Touch technology making it ideal for use in wet and changeable weather conditions. Not one to compromise on comfort Rab have fitted this jacket with pit zips, a fully adjustable flexible polymer peak hood, storm flaps and hook and loop adjustable cuffs. The Rab Downpour Packable Jacket features YKK zippers throughout with two hand pockets, one of which doubles as a stuff sack for quick and easy storage.
Garments with an Adjustable Hood feature draw cords with toggles or other adjustment mechanisms, to change the size and shape of the hood to better fit the head of the wearer. Such hoods usually adjust independently around the head, and around the face, for a snug fit and optimum weather protection.
Pit-Zips are under-arm zipped vents, designed to allow the wearer of a waterproof jacket to quickly shed excess heat and improve air circulation, without having to remove the jacket.
Pertex Shield provides the perfect balance of waterproofing, breathability, wind and water repellency with flexability and a lightweight construction.
DWR. Durable Water Repellent, is a coating added to fabrics to help add to their water repellency and shed water and snow more effectively.
Packs Into Own Pocket - Garment packs into it's own pocket to take up less room in your pack and can easily be accessed when needed.
Beat the wettest of weather conditions.

I own many jackets from Rab wiho has become my favourite outdoor supplier since the late 80's. I wanted a simple jacket for day hikes and town use. This jacket is simple, packable, weights almost nothing and offers great protection against elements. A little inside pocket would have been a plus but I don't really care. Also, the pockets are quite small compared to Rab's standard (and that means huge pockets). All in all a very good light jacket for everyday use. Take it to the office, take it for you day out. I even consider using it for two-weeks hikes in the Alps combined with a good softshell.

I put my Downpour jacket into service on the day it arrived, as it was tipping it down and I needed to go shopping - not quite the reason I'd bought it, but it was the most convenient waterproof to hand. It performed really well, not a trace of moisture inside, despite the humidity and the intensity of the rain. I wore it over just an ordinary shirt, so it was a bit chilly, but on my return I put on my Altus jacket to see how it would fit over that - great. Not at all restrictive but a good overall fit, as I'd expect from Rab.
It does look very well constructed, very substantial seaming, pit zips to vent any moisture that might occur, a good fit and, unlike many waterproofs, not some functional monstrosity I'd want to discard at the first opportunity!
i'm not saying I'm actively looking forward to rainy days, but I'll be able to venture forth in full confidence that I'll be kept dry, courtesy of my Downpour jacket.

I wanted a lightweight, fully waterproof, breathable jacket to carry with me on longer walks, especially. The Rab Downpour Jacket was the perfect choice for me. There are lighter jackets available, but the Downpour is regular-fitting jacket, allowing for other layers underneath. I thought it would also withstand use with a rucksack better than some of the'fast and light' alternatives. It is also a lot more affordable than other options.
I am a 40 inch chest, and the Medium is a perfect fit; I can wear a pull-on shirt and a thin fleece underneath if need be, but the jacket is not too 'flappy' if worn just over a base-layer. It seems very well made, as one would expect from Rab. I think the cut of the neck and hood will be good for preventing rain getting in around the neck area.
I've yet to wear this jacket in heavy rain, but I am confident that it will perform. I'm recommending it with five stars.
